“LOCAL ARTISTS ENGAGE THE COMMUNITY TO REFLECT ON A GLOBAL EFFORT TO ACHIEVE ONE DAY OF PEACE AND CEASEFIRE”
Fine Art Exhibit Information
Charleston Peace One Day has invited artist and curator, Tina Christophillis to put on a Fine Art Exhibit at the 2nd Annual festival held at Brittlebank Park on September 20th from 1-6pm at Brittlebank park. The Fine Art Exhibit will feature local artist’s works that challenge an audience to reflect upon the nature, scope, and possibility of an International Day of Peace and Ceasefire.
The goal of the Charleston Peace One Day festival is to bring together all of Charleston’s cultures in order to celebrate intercultural cooperation with activities for everyone in the community to participate in to show how Charleston is working toward a culture of peace. Fine Art has the ability to create awareness and reflect on other cultures through creative vision and respect, and Charleston Peace One Day is excited to bring this component into this year’s festival. “ I am grateful for the opportunity to engage the local community in a global effort to use art as a way to transcend the barriers and boundaries of diversity,” curator Tina Christophillis said.
The Fine Art Exhibit will feature the work of local artist: Mary Edna Fraser, Karin Olah, Gregory Guay, Shannon Di, Ben Timpson, Tiffiny Lippincott, Seth Corts, Timothy Pakron ,Lesley Wamsley, Luke Vehorn, Lynne Riding, Lisa Shimko, Jody Christian, Joanna Jackson, Mary Walker, and Tyler Ann Blanton, Tina Christophillis, Jeff Fitzharris, and Matthew Bowers.
Artist’s work may also be viewed from the end of September and October through the WALK GALLERY, which fills the windows of empty storefronts around Charleston with regional artwork.
CP1D and Conscious Alliance will also use a piece from the exhibit as the poster for the benefit concert and food drive on September 20th at Music Farm with musical performances by Dangermuffin, Fireworks Show, and Organ Donor and a multimedia production by Open Dome Productions.”
Everyone wants to know where to find music in Charelston, and it can be an easy thing to do but I want to make it easier for you! Here are some venues that I enjoy and love the bands at. Check out their websites for upcoming shows and for locations, maybe they are closer to you than you think!
http://www.musicfarm.com/home.html
(Check out the Music Farm, it’s right in the middle of downtown and about 2 blocks down King Street from Campus. It’s the perfect place for College Kids without a Car to see a show.)

(Johnson’s is a cool place for local music.)
I’ll be sure to update some cool shows when they are coming into town. <3
Also CofC Radio will be doing some shows with Eye Level Art this year, so listen for updates of our own venues.
Peace and Love,
Penny Lane
Every So Sweet, by the Early November. This song is off one my personal favorite album called The Room’s Too Cold. Listen and Love.
Ace Enders, is the fun, smart, handsome lead singer from the Early November who when the band broke off started his own side project, called Ace Enders and A Million Different People. Ace Enders also had another side project called, I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business, but has been focusing his efforts into the new band and album. Ace Enders and A Million Different People also had Surge and other members of the Early November seen as part of Ace’s new band. Check out this lastest video and for the full album go to http://www.myspace.com/aceendersandamilliondifferentpeople and listen.
(ps. if you know the early november check out surge’s and ace’s new hairdo’s in the video. =])

I pass this everyday in Charleston. It reminds me to keep an open mind and relax because it’s all madness anyway. Someone wrote it on a construction plank that is outside a major steel skeleton and I think it’s ironic because there is always noise, sparks, and metal moving…it’s madness. It’s very moving also because it says “this” instead of “the”; it makes it hit closer to home. The madness is here not somewhere else, but you need to escape it. Also the word “yourselves” shows that you, personally, are the only one who can save you from the madness. It’s no one else’s responsibility and no one else will do it for you. Plus you have to realize that you need to be free, although this sign is a friendly push in the right direction, and I hope this blog makes you realize it too. Before you get worried or stressed and before you over think something just remember, “free yourselves from this madness.”
